Infographic Design Editor Position at Hopper, in Cambridge, MA

Job description:

We are looking for an inspired, autonomous, data-savvy Infographic Design Editor. The role is a combination of graphic designer & journalist, with data analysis. Your main tasks will be to:

- Design beautiful, intuitive presentations for travel data that will get liked, shared, and retweeted online
- Bring data to life in infographics and other visuals in an online, interactive context
- Identify story ideas within Hopper’s gigantic warehouse of travel data, and pitch to Editorial & Data Science teams
- Put together data-driven posts and copy for Hopper’s Research Blog initiative, supporting our effort to present travel trends to a general consumer audience

As a company, we are working hard to take the frustration out of travel planning, letting users explore, compare, plan & book their trip online all on one website. As an Infographic Design Editor, you'll work closely with both the Editorial Team and Data Science Team on the Hopper Research Blog to promote Hopper's expertise about travel-related data, flight trends & pricing trends.

You have:

- A minimum of 2 years graphic design experience. Technical mastery with applications such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
- Exemplary communication skills; strong writing skills and prior experience in proofreading and editing
- Ability to manage changing priorities and competing deadlines to ensure accuracy and high quality standards
- Comfortable working with data in an analytic context, using tools like Excel, R, Python or SQL
- Hands-on programming experience with data visualization toolkits like D3 and blogging platforms like WordPress, and fluency in JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3 is a big plus, but not mandatory
- A good knowledge and understanding of the online travel world is an advantage
