Help Wanted: Data Visualization Design Jobs > Web Editor - Nonpartisan Election Analysis Publication

Position Title:

Web Editor for a nonpartisan publication analyzing presidential, Congressional, and gubernatorial elections.

General Summary:

The Web Editor is responsible for working with our small team to package our political analysis attractively and to create the best possible online user experience for our subscribers. A successful candidate must exhibit and maintain a high level of efficiency, organization, and professionalism. An interest in politics is a plus.

Major Duties:

• Publish, maintain, and update website content via our site’s Content Management System (CMS)
• Edit and proofread articles for publication and subscriber communications
• Conduct basic research for editors
• Design on-the-fly charts, slides, and infographics to supplement analysis
• Serve as main point of contact with website development/communications firm.
• Coordinate social media presence and timely promotion of site content
• Assist in day-to-day office operations and support tasks as necessary
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to manage a complex CMS
• Basic competency with HTML code
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Organizational and time management skills
• Meticulous attention to details and accuracy
• Capacity to work in fast-paced environment
• Ability to think creatively and work efficiently in achieving solutions to website issues and subscriber questions

Education and/or Experience:

• College degree required (BA or BS)
• Experience in website/web-presence management preferred
• General office experience preferred

Hello there:

I am writing in regards to your posting. I have worked as an infographic designer for a federal agency for 4 years and as a Data Visualization Designer for Turner Sports, a leader in entertainment, for 1 year. I have created infographics for Pfizer Medicare, Goodwill America, National Coalition for the Homeless, 511 Tactical, The InterAmericas Bank, Chick Fil A and much more.

I am highly proficient in the industry standard design programs/ Adobe Creative Cloud Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver; Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows7, and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. I have solid design skills, analytical thinking, time management, and the ability to think through a project from beginning to end. I have 8 years of design experience.

On a personal level, I am very driven and motivated in all things design and analytical approaches to solutions. Various work environments have enabled me to cultivate my skills on diverse teams. I have worked with Turner Sports, The National Coalition for the Homeless, Goodwill America, Pfizer, Cartoon Network, Astral Brands, Southeast Regional Economic Justice Network, Icebox Branding, MWH Public Relations Firm, Intergraph, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Turner Sports and more.
