Hello there!

I am writing in regards to your posting. I have worked as an infographic designer for a federal agency for 5 years and as a Data Visualization Designer for Turner Sports, a leader in entertainment, for 1 year. I have created infographics for Pfizer Medicare, Goodwill America, National Coalition for the Homeless, 511 Tactical, The InterAmericas Bank, Chick Fil A and much more. My creative and innovative approach to designing for sustainability has led to 8 Design Awards; 6 of which are American Health and Wellness Design Awards, 1 prestigious American Institute of Graphic Arts Award and 1 Communicator Award of Excellence. With 10 years of solid design experience, and a genuine interest in promoting the spread of data visualization amongst emerging students, I would be an ideal candidate for this position. You can view my work at www.indiahayes.com

My college career at Savannah College of Art and Design, exposed me to the most up to date design practices, business approaches and technology. I am proficient with programs in the Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver; Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows7, and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Coupled with a strong and rigorous design curriculum, the training I received has allowed me to greatly develop my design skills, analytical thinking, time management, and the ability to think through a project from beginning to end. I am very driven and motivated in all things design and analytical approaches to solutions. Various work environments have enabled me to cultivate my skills on diverse teams. I have worked with Turner Sports, The National Coalition for the Homeless, Goodwill America, Pfizer, Cartoon Network, Astral Brands, Southeast Regional Economic Justice Network, Icebox Branding, MWH Public Relations Firm, Intergraph, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and more.

On a personal level, I am constantly seeking out ways to effectively collaborate and work with students, youth, disadvantaged groups, and team members in support of human-centered design. Creating design that is not simply 'pretty', but feasible, desirable, and viable is a golden rule of mine. All design begin, and ends, with the community it is designing for. I think every student of design should know this; and it resonates well with Infographic design.

Whether the company specializes in luxury cosmetics or social activism, I can easily adapt to different job requirements, people, tight deadlines, and meet job related challenges presented to me.

I recently have had the pleasure of working with Turner Broadcasting Sports’ first digital-first start-up brand, upwave.com. I worked as a core member of the creative team and was responsible for the development and execution of visually designing upwave's key editorial content for display on their website and in the social space. This included diligent design work on Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, Google Plus, and Facebook. The production of Infographics was also integral in this position. My experience as a designer, and later Infographic designer, at the Center’s for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) greatly helped with this. I have assisted with many of the Ebola emergency response graphics for the CDC as well.

I partnered with the product development and editorial team for site considerations. Due to funding restrictions, operation of upwave unfortunately ceased, however the value gained continues onward. Working directly on an innovative team, with thinkers of
varied backgrounds was a remarkable experience. I have also assisted the CDC as a designer and within a Research & Development role. This role enables me to provide and search for innovative design/web methodologies for the CDC’s design team centered around health and wellness.

I currently overlook the appropriate application of brand standards to all visual print, web and multimedia for The Duty of Design; a start-up I founded which provides human-centered design approaches to charitable ventures. You can view Duty's work at www.designersduty.tumblr.com and www.thedutyofdesign.com

I would love to apply my creative expertise to your school-- I will look forward to hearing from and meeting you in the near future! You can view my work at www.indiahayes.com or designersduty.tumblr.com and www.thedutyofdesign.com
