You will join a small team of designers dedicated to producing high quality, effective and elegant visualizations of data and information for a wide audience.

Job description

GPF is looking for an experienced information designer to create engaging, explanatory, easily absorbed, accurately portrayed information designs, data visualizations, infographics and more. You will work collaboratively with analysts, editors, and other designers to conceive, suggest, design, iterate, create and publish graphics - prioritizing efforts based on very short deadlines. This includes communicating with various teams to establish and understand the story behind each graphic and then considering a variety of presentation options and construction approaches.

You must have a strong understanding and proven practical application of information design principles as well as experience understanding, cleaning, restructuring and analyzing data. We are looking for someone with strong written/verbal communication skills and experience designing within style guidelines. Other duties will include more traditional graphic design such as creating marketing materials and website graphics, documents and presentations, and other special projects.

This is primarily a design and production role for static maps and charts, as opposed to a web development role - coding interactive visualizations. But dev skills are preferred, as the company evolves toward incorporating more interactivity. The position is remote, works standard U.S. day-time hours with some flexibility, and requires 24/7 availability.
