Stop Smoking Infographic

Healthbolt.net has a great infographic about how your body reacts to stopping smoking and when it actually starts to recover. It a great combination of a timeline with a description of the symptoms that smoking quitters experience over the period of time.

Information is power, and the understanding of what to expect gives quitters to power to overcome those symptoms. Too many go back to smoking because they didn't understand what they were experiencing was normal.

They had started by selling this as a high-quality poster, but now its available free as an 18MB PDF for anyone to print. Kudos to them to making this availble free to smokers trying to quit everywhere.

Stop smoke is because you are addicted to nicotine. Most smokers think that because they enjoy smoking but this is not genuinely the case. The urge to smoke is not brought about by the need for cigarette smoke coursing down your throat and into your lungs. The urge to smoke comes from a smoker's dependence upon nicotine and cigarettes being the place to get it.

The only reason why you continue to smoke is that you are addicted to nicotine. Most smokers think it as enjoyment which is not genuinely the case. The urge to smoke is not brought about by the need for cigarette smoke coursing down your throat and into your lungs. To avoid this we can make use of the Electronic Cigarette which offers to effectively simulate the experience of smoking an actual cigarette, without any of the health or legal issues surrounding traditional cigarettes.

As a doctor who helps people quit smoking, I like this post a lot.

It shows smokers that their body will immediately begin to heal naturally almost immediately after they quit smoking. Sometimes knowing this is enough to motivate them to quit.

In my work with smokers, however, I've found that smokers need more than just the motivation to quit. There are specific skills that need to be learned to help them quit smoking for the long term. Without these tools, most smokers will start their habit right back up again.

I agree with Dr. Tim Ferenchick, those people who smoke they just need motivation to quit. It takes courage to quit smoking really.
