The Perfect Temperatures for Beer, Wine, Coffee and More

The Ideal Temperature for Beer, Coffee, and More infographic

The Perfect Temperatures for Beer, Wine and Beverages from GB Energy Supply is no longer visible on their site, but I was able to find it on LifeHacker.

I really appreciate infographics that tell one story really well. You want the information to be clear and easy to understand for the audience. Personally, I wish it was also available in Fahrenheit.

Um…responsibly of course.

The Ultimate Guide to Buying a Juicer

The Ultimate Guide to Buying a Juicer infographic from Juice Producer introduces you to the benefits for juicing and helps you decide what types of juicer is best for you.

Here is our happy infographic guide to buying a juicer, the things you might want to look out for and things to avoid to get the juicer that is going to be right for you.

Simple icons and illustrations create a very informative infographic for readers. An informative infographic is much more likely to be shared than one that feels like an advertisement. It also builds credibility for the publisher, Juice Producer, by being an expert in the industry and sharing easy-to-understand information.

However, there are a couple things I would change.

  • Minimize the text. Paragraphs are too much for an infographic
  • Include the URL. Where can readers find the original full-size version?
  • Better color choices. Yellow text on the orange backgrounds are very hard to read

Does Coffee Really Make You More Productive at Work?

Does Coffee Really Make You More Productive at Work? infographic

63% of Americans can't get through the work day without coffee. Does Coffee Really Make You More Productive at Work? infographic explores our cultural obsession with coffee. Turns out that coffee boosts your speed, not your talent so tasks that require quality over quantity do not benefit from caffeine. Toll Free Forwarding tells us how and when to drink coffee for it to be most effective.

Could you start the day without your morning cup of coffee?   Latest research shows that 61% of Americans can’t get through the day without a cup of java, and even that’s 2% down from 2013.   Let’s face it, ever since the Europeans discovered coffee in the 1600s, it’s been an infatuation of the western world.  This magic brew that makes you vibrant and productive isn’t just an addictive substance, it’s a cultural phenomenon.

Coffee shops are often credited as the birthplace of the Enlightenment, the American and French Revolutions, and even the Shins!   But what role does coffee have in the workplace?  Does it actually make us more productive or is it mankind’s most effective placebo? This infographic goes in-depth to explain just how coffee affects our daily routine, and how we can nurture our caffeine fixes without over-doing it.   So sit back with your bagel and morning brew, and enjoy the only Infographic that dares to ask: “Does Coffee Really Make You More Productive at Work?”

There's a lot of good information in this design, and it's organized nicely in sequence from top-to-bottom. Most of the information is visualized with good, related illustrations or icons.

It's odd that this infographic comes from Toll Free Forwarding, a company whose business has nothing to do with coffee. This is a challenge for relevance in the SEO world, and if this infographic becomes popular, it still may not have a significant benefit to the publisher because it will be promoting keywords unrelated to their business.

Which Foods Are Really Healthy?

Is Sushi ‘Healthy’? What About Granola? Where Americans and Nutritionists Disagree

After surveying nutritionists and Americans, the NY Times has plotted the results, showing some surprising disagreements. Is Sushi ‘Healthy’? What About Granola? Where Americans and Nutritionists Disagree charts the differences in opinion, but where do you stand?

We surveyed Americans and a panel of nutrition experts about which foods they thought were good or bad for you.

Is popcorn good for you? What about pizza, orange juice or sushi? Or frozen yogurt, pork chops or quinoa?

Which foods are healthy? In principle, it’s a simple enough question, and a person who wishes to eat more healthily should reasonably expect to know which foods to choose at the supermarket and which to avoid.

Unfortunately, the answer is anything but simple.

The results suggest a surprising diversity of opinion, even among experts. Yes, some foods, like kale, apples and oatmeal, are considered “healthy” by nearly everyone. And some, like soda, french fries and chocolate chip cookies, are not. But in between, some foods appear to benefit from a positive public perception, while others befuddle the public and experts alike. (We’re looking at you, butter.)

They also created some supporting graphs that highlight the major differences. This one shows the largest differences where many more nutrition experts consider these foods to be healthy than the general public.

Beer Pairings Simplified

Beer Pairings Simplified infographic

Beer Pairings Simplified is from the menu at BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse. An infographic in the wild found IRL! A great visual guide to beer types, colors and suggested food pairings.

Beer may actually be more food-friendly than wine. There is certainly more flavor variety and it has an amazing capacity to pair with all kinds of foods BJ's encourages you to experiment. There are no wrong answers, but here are a few things to consider:

This is definitely simplified information, because the different types of beer can actually vary in color quite a bit. However, I think this design does a great job of simplifying complex information and helping the restaurant's guests make good decisions. Seasoned or expert beer drinkers will want more detailed, complex information, but this visual guide will probably be enough information for the majority of readers.

Fun Facts About Candy Corn

Fun Facts About Candy Corn infographic

Happy National Candy Corn Day! The Fun Facts About Candy Corn infographic from Trillion Creative gives some interesting details about Halloween's most iconic candy.

Candy corn has become inextricably linked to Halloween. As the holiday approaches, you will be tempted by bags upon bags of candy corn available at all different kinds of retailers. Candy corn has been a part of the Halloween “brand” since 1880, originally developed to resemble a corn kernel to appeal to America’s farmers and their families. What is it about this little kernel of sugar that has made such a lasting impact on America’s celebration of Halloween?
